Where’s your weight?

The most important part of becoming a good chipper is to have the right weight distribution when executing the shot.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Place at least 60% or even 70% of your weight on your front or lead leg (left side for a right-hander).

  2. This helps ensure you produce a descending blow on the golf ball.

  3. Eliminates scooping or lifting in the shot which leads to thin and fat shots.

  4. Ensure the golf club finishes with the handle in front of the lead thigh.

Having your weight forward is vital if you want to consistently get up and down around the greens. Too much weight on your back foot can lead to inconsistent contact with the golf ball including thin and fat chips.

Keep the weight forward until the golf ball has left the ground!
